VitaStim Nitrifiers
Controlling stringent ammonia levels is an increasing concern in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. To enhance treatment in aerobic systems with tight limitations we have developed the Dynamic Duo, VitaStim Nitrifiers and Ammonia Assimilators. The dynamic duo have a fast recovery time with extremely low dose rates. These products contain high amounts of active nitrifying bacteria including Nitrosomonas, Nitrospira, Nitrobacter and hetero trophic nitrifiers at the highest concentration in the industry VitaStim Nitrifiers and Ammonia Assimilators also contain a micronutrient helpful to the growth and reproduction of nitrifying bacteria. These products function well in aerobic wastewater treatment plants and lagoons. They can be used in municipal applications and at refineries and rendering facilities with exceptional results.

Municipal Plant
Challenge
A Virginia Beach wastewater authority operates a 50 MDG wastewater treatment plant and from time to time their plant struggles with nitrification.Solution

Challenge
Jim operates a 1.2 MGD activated sludge plant. It was the middle of March, the water temperature was 49°F, and a local industry gave them a slug of pH 14 water. This killed their nitrifying bacteria. Their effluent ammonia jumped up to 14 ppm and was in violation of state laws. They tried modifying plant operations to bring the ammonia down and had no results.Solution

Challenge
A sugar processing facility in Minnesota lost nitrification in its aerobic tanks. This facility has a 1 MGD flow rate and their basin is 2 MGD and the ammonia level was at 189 ppm.Solution
They ordered 9# of VitaStim Nitrifiers and 9# of VitaStim Ammonia Assimilators and added 4# of each product initially and then added 1# per day thereafter.Results

Challenge
A wastewater plant at a rendering facility has very challenging nitrogen and phosphorous compliance limits. Depending on the temperature, and how many chickens they get in, ammonia levels can be 1200-2500 mg/L and BOD 9000-20000 mg/L.
Solution
When they get hit with nitrifier-killing toxicity, they restart with our VitaStim Nitrifiers. They also use VitaStim 2200 – Grease to chew up extra grease.
Results
